Fortnum & Mason Bacchus: Everything You Need To Know

Back in 2019 when we purchased the grapes for our second vintage, we hadn't a clue about the exciting opportunity that was to come...

Fortnum & Mason, the luxury London department store, blind-tasted our Bacchus 2019 whilst it was still in production amongst many other wines from producers around the country to select which they'd like to have produced as their own-label still white wine and, as you'll have guessed, they chose ours!

With Bacchus grapes being a much-loved and prized variety for growers in the UK, we weren't surprised that the Fortnums team thoroughly enjoyed the distinctive grassy and herbaceous character, so much so that we ended up bottling just shy of 2000 bottles for them.

Jamie Waugh, Fortnum's Wine Buyer stated, “We are very excited to launch the Fortnum & Mason Bacchus. We cast our net far and wide, tasting over 40 different wines blind. We then concluded that we wanted a distinctly English wine, and Bacchus fits this description perfectly with its potential to become the flagship varietal in the UK.”

The wines hit the Fortnums shelves in the early Summer of 2020 and went down a storm! With such excellent feedback and the appetite from customers (the wine ended up selling out online) we've produced more Bacchus for the iconic brand again from our 2020 Vintage.
